HIGHLANDS REC SOCCER Highlands Recreation Center

A Non-Competitive Soccer League
Boys and Girls Ages:4-6 & 6-8

This co-ed, non-competitive, instructional league is designed for youth and is a volunteer parent coached program. Rec Soccer will teach the basics of the game in a recreational environment. This league will consist of warm-up, drills and games. Each team will consist of 10 players max! Teams will have the opportunity to pick a team name at the 1st meeting. Fee includes: equipment and t-shirts. Pictures will be held on the second weekend of the league. There will be two levels of play, a 4-6 year old league and a 6-8 year old league. Age groups will play at different times. These times are listed below.

League Format

Games are held at the Highlands grass field (off Bunker Hill exit). All equipment will be provided.

- Approximately 1/2 hr of skills and drills.
- 1/2 hour of scrimmage with scheduled Highlands leagues teams (may play @ either 9am or 10am).
- NO SCORE is ever kept.
- All children will receive equal playing time.
- There will be a referee to officiate the 20-30 min scrimmage
- 6 week league, 10 teams max!

Parent Coaches Needed

Rec Soccer needs volunteer coaches to instruct and encourage their players on how to play the game of soccer. NO SOCCER OR COACHING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Come coach your child in this new non-competitive league. 2 coaches min/team! Parent coach meeting on Monday 9/21 at 6:30pm.

KID'S ROCK CLIMBING CAMP Highlands Recreation Center

5-session program introduces children to the great sport of rock climbing. Classes are designed so participants climb with children of their own age. Price includes a Planet Granite T-shirt! Parent must attend fi rst class to sign release paperwork; child may not participate without signed paperwork!! Parent signing waiver and not accompanying the participant must submit a copy of their driver’s license. Classes held at Planet Granite, 100 El Camino Real, Belmont.

PRESCHOOLERS MUSIC & MOVEMENT Highlands Recreation Center

The Music Together® program is a special research-based program for preschoolers and infants. Children will learn to keep a beat, sing in-tune, and get to experience the joy of learning from a wide variety of musical styles. Children will get to play with different musical instruments while learning the music and movements. Parent participation is strongly recommended as repetition and reinforcement at home will greatly enhance children’s musical memory. ($25 supply fee paid to Happy Mozart on the first day of class.) BEGINNING AND INTERMEDIATE GUITAR Highlands Recreation Center

Come join the HRC and learn how to play the guitar by focusing on technique and ear training. This class will de-mystify the sometimes overwhelming and confusing technical information given in manuals and instruction books. The approach and method is beginner-friendly and aims to make each lesson a productive and enjoyable experience. Teacher Robert 'Bo' Razon is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer and teacher, who for nearly three decades has been studying, researching, teaching and performing within the musical genres of Blues, Rock, Jazz, Latin and World. 10 weeks. This is an introductory tennis class (for children ages 3-6) that teaches balanced movement, footwork skills and eye-hand coordination. (ASP & Camp Fee: $5 less than resident fee)

YOUTH TENNIS I Highlands Recreation Center

This class is for youth with little experience or instruction. They will be instructed in the basic fundamentals of proper grip, forehand, backhand, serve and volley. Although flexible, Youth Tennis I students typically range in age from 6-10 years old. (ASP & Camp Fee: $5 less than resident fee)

YOUTH KUNG FU Highlands Recreation Center

Come and learn Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. This traditional Chinese martial art teaches physical fitness, Chinese culture, martial ethics, self defense, and develops the mind, body and spirit. Our instructor is from the Jing Mo school and teaches from the original curriculum. Classes are beginning level with no previous martial arts experience necessary. FIRST PLACE FENCING Highlands Recreation Center

Join the Highlands Rec Center for it’s first season of Fencing. Coach Sean Horan from First Place Fencing Club will teach students how to hold the weapon, how to hit and get hit and how to defend against the oncoming attack. SAFARI RUN - KEEPIN' IT FIT Highlands Recreation Center

This class is circuit training for kids. We’re keepin’ them fit with exercises like running, skipping, hopping, and hurdles. These drills will be integrated with play for a total of 50 minutes. Kids will have fun completing the task, then playing and socializing on the play structure with friends. This is a great way for kids to burn off that extra energy, gain nutritional knowledge, and perfect their physical fi tness skills. Parent supervision not required. (Ages 5-7)

SAFARI RUN - BUILDING A BETTER YOU Highlands Recreation Center

Kick your fitness training into high gear with Safari Run’s youth boot camp. This class provides loads of fun while developing gross motor skills in; cardio with running drills, speed ladder, hurdle training, and agility training, strength with using body weights, elastic bands, and free weights and flexibility with stretching, static, and foam roller. Also we educate and provide knowledge about the importance of healthier food choices and study what it takes to have good posture. Classes will be held at Safari Run and at outdoor track during early months. (Ages 11-13)

TUMBLE TIME GYMNASTICS Highlands Recreation Center

Tumble Time Gymnastics is a non-competitive gymnastics, motor development, and overall fitness program for children ages 3-12. Our program is designed to build self-confidence through music, movement challenges, and motivation. Children improve strength, muscle tone, balance, rhythm, flexibility, and motor coordination using specially designed, multi-dimensional equipment. Coach Nick brings tumbling mats, air tracks, balance beams, parallel bars, spring-boards, high bars, rock walls, trampolines, and much more.
